Good Morning!!! Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend! One of the great things about Utah are the beautiful mountains, that also happen to be just a 10 minute jaunt away! That being said, we took to the canyon’s to celebrate my dads birthday, and had an amazing time. I wanted to share with you the gift that I made for my dad. While it is super easy to create, it is a great gift that anybody would love!
Supplies:
- Wood Block
- Mod Podge
- Minwax Wood Stain or paint
- Picture
- poly foam brush
- Mod Podge Acrylic Sealer
I was lucky enough to have tons of scrap wood sitting around in my garage just waiting for someone to do something with it. I found the size and thickness that I wanted and went to work.
Stain or paint your wood and let dry. I stained mine using the Minwax by applying it with an old rag.
While the stain is drying design your picture. I used Photoshop to design mine. If you do not have Photoshop you can use PicMonkey or Canva. It is pretty easy to design. Just measure your wood block, insert those dimensions in whatever program you are using, then place your images where you want them. You can add a variety of styles or effects, make your text semi transparent, and print in color, sepia, or black and white. Once your are happy with your design, Print out your image and get it ready to mod podge it on to your wood.
Using your sponge brush, apply mod podge on to the wood.
Then place the picture onto the wood and let dry. It dries pretty quickly, I usually wait about 30 min before doing the next step.
Once it is dry, apply Mod Podge over the top of the picture using your sponge brush.
Let dry and then spray with Mod Podge Acrylic Sealer.
Let dry and then enjoy your masterpiece! If you would like to hang on the wall you can easily do so by adding ribbon, or just leave as is if you will be displaying it on a shelf.
