Since none of the projects I have been working on lately are turning out as planned. I decided to make a quick and SUPER easy craft using Mason Jars! I have been playing around for the first time with chalk paint and loving it! So with Fall right around the corner, I decided to make a cute fall decoration utilizing my new favorite paint! These chalk paint mason jars will fit perfectly next to the chalkboard sign on my front porch or on a shelf inside. They turned out so stinkin cute though, that now I can’t decide where I want to put them 🙂
Supplies:
- 4 Mason Jars
- chalk paint
- craft paint
- sandpaper
- flowers (I used artificial. If you saw my post on my succulent planter, you saw that I don’t ever keep my flowers alive 🙂 So artificial is PERFECT for me!)
- stencils
- sponge brush
Painted all the mason jars with one coat of annie sloan chalk paint in old white, and applied with a sponge brush.
I wanted the jars to have an antique/distressed look, so once they were all painted and fully dry I sanded some parts. I love the look it gave them!
To make painting the letters on easier, I taped stencils to the jars, then painted them with acrylic paint in a pretty metallic brown color.
Added some flowers and whallah! I have cute Fall Mason Jar Vases!
I absolutely love how these turned out! They will fit perfectly on my front porch with my welcome sign or somewhere else in my home! What I love even more is how SUPER easy they are to make and how they add the perfect amount of Fall to your home!

Are you looking forward to the Fall or are you holding on to summer as long as you can?
So this year I decided to update these already fabulous fall mason jar vases! Come take a look at what they look like now and get all the details HERE.

HELP I can’t find Chalk paint in my area. Where did u find your’s at? They are super beautiful.
Did you check the link that I shared that has a list of available suppliers in your area? It is only sold in select retailers stores, it is not available in big box stores. Check out this link to see if there is a retailer near you. http://www.anniesloan.com/acatalog/North_American_Stockists.html If no luck there, you can always use a different chalk paint. They sell DecoArt Americana Chalky paint at Home Depot and Michaels. Hope this helps and you can find some.
I love this, Tara! So creative! Pinning, and sharing on FB…

Tara, I’m soo loving your fall mason jars, they are perfect for soo many different uses!
Where did you happen to find the stencils?
Hi Tyfany! I found mine at Michaels Craft Store. You can find them at any craft store though, I have seen them at Hobby Lobby and Jo-Anne’s.
Oh, I love these!!! I’m having trouble with all of my projects here lately. Everything I try to make is a flop. Maybe I can make some of these without completely screwing them up!!

I was wondering…. I have a rustic looking wood frame. Do you think that chalk paint would work on that?
I am also a fan of chalk paint but have not tried painting jars with it. You have inspired me to try it. Your fall jars are so cute! Thanks for the idea. It looks easy enough.
Thank you, Susanne!
Hi Tara
Can you tell me if you waxed the jars after you painted them? I thought you had to seal the paint?
Also, have you painted glass tea lights/glass candle sticks before. I have the same question – Can I wax the tea lights or will the wax melt when the candle is lit?
Thanks
Michele

Why did you choose to use the chalk paint versus a regular craft paint.
You can turn your mason jars into gorgeous snow globes. All you have to do is empty the mason jar, and fill it with fake snow, glitter and plastic ornaments. Lastly, glue the toy mistletoe on the top of the lid, and screw it back on. If you are looking for mason jars of different sizes, head over to Premium Vials we offer wide range of mason jar mugs.
