Have you ever wanted to make your own marquee sign, but don’t have the time, patience, or just feel it is too hard to do yourself? Well look no further, Michaels carries these adorable Marquee Love kits from American Crafts making it easy peazy to create your own marquee masterpiece! The kits are 12.99, but the nice thing is that Michaels always has coupons available making them even cheaper!
I wanted to see for myself how easy these kits are, and I have to say I am in LOVE! My retro marquee arrow was complete in a matter of minutes!
Retro Marquee Arrow
Supplies:
- Marquee Love Letter Kit from Michaels
- scrapbook paper
- hole punch
- scissors
You can create your marquee anyway you would like by painting it, using washi table, glitter, scrapbook paper etc.. I thought this arrow would be a perfect accent piece in a travel gallery wall, so I went with this postcard scrapbook paper and just left everything else as is.
Inside each kit there is a tracing template. So just flip your scrapbook paper over and trace the arrow with a pencil, then cut it out.
Next, use your hole punch to cut out the circles where the lights will go. Then place the paper inside the arrow and insert the clear bulb caps You can use mod podge if you would like to have the paper glued inside. I decided not to, as I like having the option to change it out if desired.
Then insert your battery operated lights, and everything is complete!
I absolutely love how easy and customizable these Marquee love kits are from Michaels. I have a feeling I will be making more of these for future projects.
Can’t wait to get working on my travel gallery wall, as I think this retro marquee arrow will be the perfect added touch!
